Reading Time: 2 minutes

When she googled the phrase “beautiful woman” Alexis could not recall how many pages deep she had to go before seeing a black woman with just her natural hair.  A problem!

Alexis: I wore weaves and wigs all the time and people would ask, “Alexis, why don’t you wear your real hair out?” I didn’t know how to maintain it. I didn’t know how to keep it pretty. I decided to experiment with some ideas and products. At the age of 32 I finally figured out how to maintain my hair. I have to share this and it starts with our book Kinks to Curls. As a fitness instructor, I want to maintain my hair through many workouts. This plan works through the workout, the heat, the winter, any day and should help you maintain a fresh curly look on a steppers’ weekend dancing all day long.

Who Should Read This Book? African American women with natural hair, bi-racial women and parents of biracial children, and adoptive parents. You don’t need to be embarrassed if you don’t already know what to do with your hair.

What’s In It For Readers? Taking the guesswork out of product usage. Outlining two simple processes – one for looser curls, one for tighter curls. I continue education and can answer your questions on our website www.kinkstocurls.com that goes in conjunction with the book.

Where Is the Proof? We tested these products and processes on family and friends before writing the book. The processes worked on all hair types even the thickest of the thickest hair.

An Easy Read. Shared in less that 40 pages with photos in a recipe style format. You are presented a picture of the final, the products to use are listed and the process is broken down into steps. She wrote it simply since Alexis admits she has the attention span of a goldfish.

holiday_showcase_home_stocking-1A Great Stocking Stuffer. This is an ideal coffee table book, or a unique gift idea for mixed people in your family or your friends. Most readers who bought this book wanted it because they didn’t know what they were doing.

I read Kinks to Curls and it is inspiring me again to consider the “big chop” to get back to the natural me but we’ll see. I already see all the natural sisters in this community and at least once on an event weekend I am staring at the unique styles and thinking “I want that hair.” The before and after transformation photos move me. Who knew that curl patterns were that serious but not complicated? Thank you Alexis for sharing these beauty secrets so we can get back to loving our natural selves.
