Jannice Robertson (RIP) would crack me up every time, with, “Don’t watch me. Watch TV!” Well, how about, “Watch me ON TV!” That’s right! WGN TV Chicago wants to highlight Chicago Stepping for their history show to contribute to a piece on nostalgia. Pete Frazier posted an open casting call on Facebook for couples to be included in the shoot for this TV feature in Chicago. I am very excited and want to be a part of it!

Opportunity for the Stepping Community and Every Stepper
Television is a wonderful chance for the Stepping community. While we already have a lot of visibility on social media, TV offers a unique platform to share our dance with people of all ages who may not be familiar with Stepping. Whether it’s through music videos, movies, TV shows, or documentaries, television provides an opportunity to promote the love of Chicago Stepping and preserve our black history.
It’s also another way for individuals to showcase their passion for dancing and to be seen by the public. Moreover, these opportunities are important in helping Stepping progress and keeping the dance alive. Be a part of it!
TV Moments with Chicago Steppers
Most steppers have heard about the R Kelly – Step In the Name of Love music video where Chicago Stepping was the highlight of the music video. However, steppers have made several more TV appearances since that video in 2003. Here are a few of many. Enjoy some of the other moments for steppers on TV.
