  1. Thank you for your response Gwendolyn. Men and women read this post and gave feedback on it. Much of the feedback was from men that I interviewed. I am glad you also mentioned about Women Asking Men to Dance. This is another one of the posts I wrote that touches on another one of your comments https://livingthe8count.com/steppin-community-involvement/should-a-lady-ask-a-man-to-dance/

This was a while ago but even in recent conversations I see that even those perspectives have changed.

  2. I hope you realize that only women read this post. I have been to enough sets where I am a staunch complainer about men not asking a woman to dance. I have had maybe 2 dances in the last year where I was asked to dance…otherwise, I do all the asking. It is so offensive and humiliating to be turned down by a man, especially when you ask him in front of people. My worse dance ever was when I asked a man to dance and he was looking at another woman throughout the dance with me and before the song ended he had already left me on the dance floor and went to that female. I spend a lot of money to attend these sets but our men are just so arrogant and disrespectful. My dance level will not allow a showoff to perform on the floor. I am no longer the partner, just the reason for him being on the floor. Jerky hand signals and agressive turns are such a turnoff and embarrassing because on many occasions I lose my footing and have difficulty recovering from an aggressive turn. Most of the men don’t care about your dance level. Its all about them on the floor.

  3. I love this! 💯% on point. I’ll dance with a beginner because we all started somewhere.
I love how u pointed out the different reasons a lady doesn’t want to dance. The rudeness & sense of entitlement on the set can be a lot. This needs to be printed & distributed at the door. LOLBVS 🤣

  4. Great post as usual I really enjoy your blog I’m a 70 yr old Stepper from way back in Chicago, keep up the good wirk
